Letters Nov. 14 - Curb the sidewalk issue

Share Adjust Comment Print

Dear Editor,

Over the past several weeks, the City of Lacombe has been working on the sidewalk at the corner of 50 Ave. and 50 St. outside Pharmasave and the Main Street Medical Centre.

Prior to the city starting work on this street, there was accessibility for handicapped individuals which enabled them to step up and down from the sidewalk with ease, but since the sidewalk repairs, there is no handicap-accessible up and down from this sidewalk.

On Nov. 7, 2018 at about 11:15 a.m., the Connex bus was parked in front of Pharmasave. The driver of the Connex bus was having difficulty assisting two seniors, one who had a walker and one who had a cane aboard the bus due to the fact  the curbs were high.

These conditions put stress on the driver and the handicapped individuals.

Hopefully these problematic curb conditions on this street will not result in casualties before the problem is addressed.

Lacombe, Alta.
