Photos: Lacombe Composite High School students recognized for academic achievement

Achievement Against Adversity -- Keelie Phillips receives the Triple A (Achievement Against Adversity) award from the Lacombe Knights of Columbus' Raymond Cyr during the Lacombe Composite High School's annual awards ceremony. The award is presented annually by the Knights of Columbus to a student who demonstrated outstanding achivement during their high school years while overcoming significant adversity. Phillips incurred serious injuries while playing soccer which has taken her several years to recover from, including operations and ongoing rehabilitation. She maintained high academic achievement, while participating in food drives, helping at the hospital and volunteering on local committees. The now graduate of LCHS is currently studying for a degree in Neuroscience at the University of Alberta. Photo supplied

Students from Lacombe Composite High School’s Class of 2019 were recognized for their academic achievement during the annual awards ceremony last Friday at the school in the auxiliary gymnasium.

The ceremony represented $212,000 in awards given out to LCHS students, with many returning to the school from post secondary to accept the awards.
