UPDATE: Another murder investigated by Sudbury police

UPDATE: Kairo Chilton, 33, who is charged with second-degree murder and several other offences, made a brief appearance in bail court at the Sudbury Courthouse Tuesday morning.

Chilton, who showed no emotion and spoke in a soft voice, was dressed in prison-issue orange overalls. She was remanded in custody to video bail remand court Nov. 28.

While in custody, Chilton is not to contact eight people whose names were brought up by the Crown.

 

ORIGINAL STORY: Police are reporting another murder in Sudbury, just days after a young man was slain downtown.

In this case the incident occurred in the Donovan area, and the accused is a woman.

Greater Sudbury Police said they were called around 6 p.m. on Monday to check on the well-being of residents at an address on Melvin Avenue. 

“Upon arrival officers located a deceased male within the residence,” a release states. “Shortly thereafter the other occupant of the residence, a 33-year-old female, was taken into custody for murder.”

The identity of the victim is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

The parties are known to each other, police said, and there is no threat to the public. 

The matter remains under investigation.
