Soccer flourishes in Lacombe

Dear Editor,

Who says soccer isn’t alive and well in Lacombe?

This past weekend the Tier 4 provincials were held with the U-16 girls playing in Ponoka, the U 16 boys and U 18 girls playing in Stettler, and the U-18 boys faced off against the best teams from the province here in Lacombe.

To be able to represent your city with four teams in provincials is a major accomplishment in itself. When the weekend had come to an end and the last whistle blew, Lacombe can say we are a city of champions.

The U-16 boys as well as both U-18 teams finished Sunday as provincial champions while our U-16 girls finished in the top six as well.

The dedication that is shown by our coaches and players as well as the way these players represent their city is incredible. As Lacombe has over 400 players involved in soccer in our city the future of our program can only get brighter. Again from the Lacombe Minor Soccer Association Congratulations.
