Fans of the Twilight novels by Stephanie Meyer finally get to see the last of the Twilight films with the long awaited release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.
The final 20 minutes of this movie have some of the best action sequences of all of the movies and is worth the cost of admission. Admission which can happen right here in Lacombe as the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is now playing at Lacombe City Cinemas.
Finally, Bella (Kristen Stewart) has become a vampire and a very powerful vampire she is. Edward Cullen (Robert Patterson) is very proud of his new vampire bride and his part human part vampire daughter Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy). Not only does Renesmee have a vampire family to protect her but she also has a werewolf guardian, Jacob (Taylor Lautner). When Renesmee`s Aunt Alice (Ashley Greene) has a premonition that the vampire clan, the Volturi, run by Aro (Michael Sheen) are going to attack the Cullen clan and kill Renesmee, the Cullen’s gather together a unique group of vampires with special powers to protect Renesmee.
I have not read the Twilight books and only watched the first two films, which were enough for me as I was getting very tired of the Jacob or Edward drama. However, several of my students suggested that I go see Part 2 and knowing that my wife wanted to see Jacob without a shirt one last time, I ventured out for a look. Overall, I was impressed with the film. The special effects for the werewolves were outstanding and the final battle was exciting with what I am told were some creative twists not in novel. I also liked the idea of vampires with a variety of powers getting together to fight although this reminded me more of an X-Men movie that a vampire film.
Until next time, I will see you at the cinema.
