Charges laid over series of arsons

Charges have been laid in connection to a series of arsons in the City of Lacombe last week.

Incidents included a vehicle fire set in the 5200 block of 48 St. on Sept. 25 and 26, as well as several different dumpster fires in the same area.

On Wednesday, Sept. 27 at approximately 3 p.m. both LPS and the Lacombe Fire Department responded to a fence and dumpster fire in the alley of the 5200 block of 50th St. The fires were extinguished by the fire department.

As a result of subsequent investigation, LPS announced on Monday afternoon Jamie Lee Cullins, 27, of Lacombe had been charged with a total of seven criminal code offences including arson and public mischief.

Cullins was remanded in custody with his next court appearance scheduled for Oct. 13 in Red Deer Provincial Court.

A female was also arrested for her involvement, but LPS stated they will not be releasing her name at this time.
