Turf is complete 0
After three weeks of hard work, the installation of artificial turf at MeGlobal Athletic Park was completed June 26.
According to a press release from the Lacombe Athletic Park Association (LAPA), the turf can be used for sports such as football, soccer, lacrosse and rugby as well as other recreational events like Lacombe Days.
"It will provide our local minor sports with a state of the art home to use at relatively no cost," said LAPA president Don Gustafson in the release. "(It will) drive tourism and business to our community, and be a showcase for the area."
The association has spent $4 million on the facility so far. The final stage of phase III, which includes the installation of a running track, will cost another $1 million.
The first official team to use the new turf will be the Central Alberta Buccaneers football team on July 7.
