Buccaneers

The Central Alberta Buccaneers clashed against the Calgary Gators June 16 as both teams fought hard for their first win of the season. The Bucs started the game off strong with an easy point off the first kick but struggled hard to keep the Gators in check. By the end of the first half, Calgary was leading 10 to 4.

Back for the second half, the Bucs still had a tough time sneaking through the Gators' defense. Soon Calgary had a 17 to 4 lead over the Buccaneers, but they eventually came back, scoring on the Gators and closing the gap 17 to 11.

In the end, the Bucs could only muster another two points before time ran out, making the final score 17 for the Gators and 13 for the Buccaneers.

The Bucs are in Edmonton June 23 to take on the Stallions at Clarke Field.

Midget AA Dodgers

The Lacombe Midget Dodgers continued their second round of provincial play June 16 and 17, travelling to Red Deer to face off against the Camrose Cougars and the Red Deer Braves.

Squaring off against the Cougars, the Dodgers kept the score tight but couldn't hold them off, losing to Camrose 7 to 5. But they were back again June 17, and this time the game was a real nail biter. Neck in neck for most of the game, it was the Red Deer Braves that came out on top in the end, narrowly beating the Lacombe Dodgers 11 to 10.

The Dodgers head to Calgary June 23 and 24 for two more second round games.
