Vintage tractors steal the show

The 29th annual Antique Equipment show put on by the L.A. Vintage Machinery Club was a bit rushed June 17 as organizers worked fast to beat an impending rainstorm.

The show, which ran both June 16 and 17, featured antique tractors, ploughs, and combines. There was also a pancake breakfast both mornings and various equipment demonstrations.

But the highlights of the day seemed to be the parade of power and tractor pull competitions. Both the parade and competition showcased numerous vintage tractors ranging from the early '30s to the late '70s.

Although the show was well attended, one vendor at the sale tables said that she has noticed a big decline in attendance over the last few years.

Last year, the show was a bust because of bad weather all weekend, and this year the club had been hopeful for an increase in interest.
