ELJHS students give back to the community

Barb Anderson

School has a very active student leadership group and our students

have been involved with several local charities in the last few months. During the month of December our leadership group continued our long tradition of collecting for Santa's Anonymous. For more than a decade our students

have supported the Kinsmen

in this worthwhile endeavour,

and more than $1,000 worth of toys were collected from our students under the direction of Mrs. Gratton's leadership class. Mrs. Van Campen's Grade 7 homeroom also did some fundraising

of its own and used $600 they collected to go shopping to purchase more toys for Santa's Anonymous and food for the food bank (as seen in our picture). In the same vein, Mrs. Warner's Grade 9 homeroom organized our students in a collection of food items for our local food bank. All together about 4,500 food items were delivered in the past several

weeks. We are extremely fortunate to live in such a caring and supportive community like Lacombe, and we are proud that our students are truly tomorrow's citizens sharing in this caring attitude.
